TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of Commission C of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Habib Muhammad Salim Alatas stated that currently, many tax potentials are left untouched by the provincial government.
"We do not obtain revenues from toll roads, neither from stakes in Jakarta's lands. The stakes are commercial in nature, yet we gain nothing," Habib said as quoted from DPRD Jakarta's official website on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Therefore, Commission C asked the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) to no longer depend on existing taxes for revenues.
Jakarta Regional Secretary Joko Agus Setyono also admitted that there is tax potential that slipped from Bapenda's supervision. One of which is the online shop tax and online ride-hailing services or online ojek tax.
Abouto the tax issue, there is [a solution]. For example, Gojek, Gofood, and similar services need to be taxed. We must issue a regulation to police these online shops and we cannot do it alone. This has to involve the central government," he said.
Meanwhile, the head of the Bapenda Jakarta Lusiana Herawati mentioned that her agency will continue innovating to increase local tax revenue in 2024 by conducting recertification against the Village and Urban Land and Building Tax objects. The agency will also evaluate the tax exemption on assets with more than Rp2 billion value.
"To ensure fairness in the future, the only asset being exempted is the one being resided in," Lusiana stated.
