TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Association of Tour and Travel Agencies (Asita) deputy chairman Budijanto Ardiansjah said that the tourism industry, especially in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has prepared several things to welcome the Moto Grand Pix or MotoGP 2023 in Mandalika, Central Lombok, which will be held on October 13-15, 2023.
“Such as accommodation, transportation, restaurants, and others,” he told Tempo on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Industry players would also offer exclusive tour packages as part of the strategies to attract spectators to the international motorcycle racing event. However, Budijanto did not elaborate on the packages. “We hope it can also be a good promotion,” he said.
Previously, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibyo expected a total revenue of 4.5 trillion from the racing event. “From last year's event, we booked Rp4.5 trillion. We hope it will be at least the same or more this year,” she said at the 2023 Mandalika MotoGP press conference at the InJourney office, Sarinah Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Angela said the MotoGP event could help achieve the country’s tourism targets of 8.5 million foreign tourists and 1.4 billion domestic tourists. Besides, it would be held in the priority tourist destination which could help introduce Indonesia, especially Lombok, NTB, to the world.
“We can get direct economic benefits. They will be directly felt by the community of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and in the tourism and creative economy industries,” Angela said.
