TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) froze bank accounts linked to the Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo. Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana stated that the measure is taken in relation to the ongoing legal process in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"Indeed," Ivan confirmed when asked today. However, Ivan refrained from revealing the details of the accounts blocked since it's still being processed.
Alleged transactions through the NasDem politician's accounts amounted to hundreds of billions from various nominees. These nominees include his aide, personal assistant, the staff at the Ministry of Agriculture, and other third parties.
Referring to Money Laundering Law, PPATK is authorized to temporarily freeze accounts for five business days. The measure could be extended for another 15 days, with a total of 20 business days.
Syahrul Yasin Limpo is allegedly involved in a gratification case at the Ministry of Agriculture. Several locations have been searched by KPK on September 28 in relation to this case, including his residence and the ministry's office.
KPK found several pieces of evidence at his residence, namely envelopes filled with billions of rupiah, a number of firearms, and other documents. Meanwhile, the search at the ministry's office consisted of the office of Syahrul Yasin Limpo, the office of the Ministry's Secretary General, and others.
KPK has yet to name the minister as a suspect as they are awaiting arrest.
