TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi said the country could achieve a developed nation status as long as there is consistency and continuity. According to the president, Indonesia needs leaders who are courageous in facing any challenges.
“Don't let the change of leader change the vision,” he said at the Muhammadiyah Youth Force Command (KOKAM) meeting, at the Manahan Solo Stadium, Surakarta, Central Java, Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
In his speech, Jokowi said that when a leader changes, the nation's orientation should not change to prevent the country from returning to the start. He emphasized that leaders must be brave and bold to face any country.
Jokowi continues to stress the sustainability of government programs
On many occasions, Jokowi has always emphasized the sustainability of government programs to attain Golden Indonesia 2045.
Earlier, on September 16, he told his supporters in Bogor that the next three presidential elections would really determine the fate of Indonesia, whether it would become a developed country or not.
He also emphasized that his successors must be able to take advantage of the demographic bonus that Indonesia is currently experiencing. This is crucial to boosting the nation’s income.
Jokowi calls on people to remain united
Aside from highlighting the continuity of government programs, Jokowi also called on the public not to be divided by the 2024 general elections. “Peace must not be torn apart because of elections and this nation's leap forward must not be hindered just because of the fight for power,” he said.
