TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned bus operator PT Jakarta Transportation (TransJakarta) is determined to build four bus rapid transit or BRT stops on Line 14 to facilitate the mobility of locals going to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).
The construction of the bus stops commenced in preparation for the U-17 World Cup, which is slated to be held at the country’s largest stadium from November 10 to December 2, 2023.
The four bus stops are Tanah Tinggi Bus Stop, Benyamin Suaeb Bus Stop, Danau Sunter Barat A Bus Stop, and Danau Sunter Barat B Bus Stop. Line 14 serves the route from Senen in Central Jakarta to JIS in North Jakarta and vice versa.
“We are pushing for the operation of the four bus stops by the end of October, which will serve passengers from Senen to West Sunter in light of U-17,” PT TransJakarta Director Welfizon Yuza said on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Additionally, Yuza explained that his side is opening 20 other bus stops. Some of them have already been completed and are in operation including the Senayan Roundabout and Karet-Sudirman Bus Stop.
“We are aiming to complete these four bus stops by the end of October so that the route will be available when it (the U-17 World Cup) starts in November,” he said.
PT TransJakarta has closed ten bus stops for revitalization from May 31 to June 3, 2023, in order to improve the service quality to customers. It has also completed the revitalization of 22 bus stops across the capital and will immediately reopen three more bus stops that have been renewed.
