TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The provincial government of Jakarta conducted a trial run for account-based ticketing (ABT) through the Jaklingko application for Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT Jakarta two weeks ago. "The ABT feature in Jaklingko application is appropriately adequate," said the head of Jakarta Transportation Office Syafrin Liputo after a meeting in Bogor, on Friday, September 15, 2023, as quoted from Antara.
During the trial, Syafrin said, only minor and insignificant technical difficulties occurred. Thus, hopefully, the implementation could be improved sooner rather than later.
Syafrin also hoped that ABT implementation could obtain the personal data of the users as well as the trail of their trips with Transjakarta, MRT, or LRT Jakarta.
ABT will be integrated into an application by installing a barcode. The barcode will allow users to continue using public transportation with or without card-based electronic money.
The implementation of ABT will increase the efficiency of government-mandated public service obligations (PSO). "We will review the efficiency and effectivity of ABT technology for future implementation of PSO," Syafrin said.
The provincial government of Jakarta established PT Jaklingko Indonesia (PT JLI) to implement integrated transportation modes that are accessible through the Jaklingko application and transportation cards. Currently, Jaklingko is developing account-based ticketing that will allow for a more efficient public transportation subsidy.
