Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion at Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board mentioned that Indonesia faced several challenges in attracting investment, including the deglobalization issue.
"Countries that used to promote globalization are now promoting deglobalization. These countries tend to invite local investors back to [invest] in their own country," Nurul said during UOB Editor's Circle at Kempinski Hotel in Jakarta yesterday, September 12. Acting Consul General Kiki Tjahjo Kusprabowo said on Tuesday that Penang recorded 178,132 foreign nationals seeking medical treatment in the region in 2022, and 90 percent of them were Indonesians.
He said the Indonesian representatives in Penang thus welcomed the Local Currency Settlement (LCS) partnership with Malaysia, which he believed would help the two countries’ efforts to enhance mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
3. Jakarta to Revitalize Rivers, Reservoirs to Anticipate Flooding
Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono said the city administration will soon revitalize 16 rivers, lakes, dams, and reservoirs to anticipate flooding during the upcoming rainy season.
“We are doing flood mitigation based on the regulation drafted in the Regional Development Plan 2023-2026,” Heru said in a plenary session at the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) building on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Ahead of the rainy season, the provincial government is determined to develop flood monitoring systems and launch maintenance programs for flood control infrastructure and facilities.
