Govt Announces 2024 National Holidays, Collective Leave Days

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe government officially determined the national holidays and collective leave days for 2024 through a joint decree signed on Tuesday, September 12, by three ministers; the Religious Affairs Minister, the Manpower Minister, and the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister.

In Joint Decree No. 855/2023, No. 3/2023, and No. 4/2023, there are 17 national holidays and 10 days of collective leave in 2024.

“This joint decree is a guideline for government and private institutions in implementing national holidays and collective leave days in 2024,” Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said as quoted from the Coordinating Ministry’s official website.

Here is the list of the public holidays next year as stipulated in the decree:

National Holidays in 2024:

• January 1: New Year’s Day

February 8: Isra Mikraj of Prophet Muhammad SAW

February 10: Chinese New Year 2575

March 11: Nyepi (Day of Silence) 1946

March 29: Good Friday

March 31: Easter Day

April 10-11: Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri

May 1: International Labor Day

May 9: Ascension Day of Jesus Christ

May 23: Waisak 2568

• June 1: Pancasila Day

June 17: Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri

July 7: Islamic New Year 1446 Hijri

August 17: Independence Day 

• September 16: Birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW

• December 25: Christmas Day

Mandatory Collective Leave Days in 2024:

February 9: collective holiday for Chinese New Year

March 12: collective holiday for Nyepi 

• April 8, 9, 12, 15: collective holiday for Eid al-Fitr

May 10: collective holiday for the Ascension of Jesus Christ

May 24: collective holiday for Waisak Day

June 18: collective holiday for Eid al-Adha 1445

December 26: collective leave days for Christmas
