110 Hotspots Detected in Sumatra Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pekanbaru Meteorology, Climatology, Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected 110 hotspots in Sumatra on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The highest number of hotspots is recorded in South Sumatra with 90 hotspots.

"Aside from South Sumatra, other hotspots were detected in Aceh, West Sumatra, and Riau, each with one hotspot, Lampung with 13 hotspots, and Bangka Belitung with 4 hotspots," said Forecaster on Duty for BMKG station in Pekanbaru, Yasir Prayuna, today.

Yasir mentioned that on the same day, the temperature in Riau ranges from 22 to 33 degrees Celsius with air humidity level at 55-99 percent. Meanwhile, the wind will move from the northeast to the southwest with 10-30 kilometers per hour velocity.

"The forecast for Riau on Tuesday, September 11, stated that light rain and medium rain had the potential to pour over the area and rain started to drizzle over Riau in the evening, continuing over to dawn," Yasir said.

Yasir explained that the rain is distributed unevenly, and only pours over parts of the province.

"Light to medium rain potential at dawn occurred in parts of Kampar Regency, Rokan Hulu, Pelalawan, and Siak," Yasir added.
