PM Li Qiang Meets Indonesian Minister, Discussing Indonesia-China Cooperation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan attended the Indonesia - China Business Community Reception at Shangri La Hotel, meeting Prime Minister Li Qiang. The meeting discussed Indonesia - China cooperation, especially in regard to Indonesia's six sustainable development agendas.
"Together, we will create a real change, not only for both countries but for the world," wrote Luhut in a written statement on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Meanwhile, the six agendas are downstream, digitalization, infrastructure development, education, economic distribution, and decarbonization. According to Luhut, Indonesia-China cooperation in these agendas will support Indonesia's economic transformation.
Luhut said the downstream program lowers Indonesia's dependency on raw materials and boosts industrialization while encouraging development in East Indonesia. "The development centered around the people of both countries will help increase the human resources in Indonesia," Luhut remarked.
In addition, Luhut said, there's the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train megaproject that heightens the connectivity between transportation in Indonesia. "[On Wednesday] I will accompany PM Li Qiang to try the high-speed train, it's proof of the high-quality modern cooperation between the two countries," he said.
According to Luhut, the close relationship between Indonesia and China is attributed to mutual trust, mutual honor, and mutual benefits. He believed that PM Li Qiang's visit would open more opportunities for more cooperation in the future.
"As well as [opportunities of] trade and investment in Indonesia, and urges Indonesian investors to invest in China," he concluded.
