Jokowi Meets with Cambodia PM Discussing Rice Import

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet at the Jakarta Merdeka Palace on Monday, September 4, 2023. The two leaders discussed the plan to import rice from Cambodia.
Hun Manet visited the Merdeka Palace at around 17:30 hours Jakarta time and was received by Jokowi and his cabinet ministers.
Jokowi congratulated Manet on his appointment as the PM of Cambodia and conveyed three things to be discussed.
“The first is related to food security cooperation. I appreciate Cambodia's welcome regarding Indonesia's desire to import rice from Cambodia of about 250,000 tons per year,” Jokowi said at the meeting on Monday, September 4, 2023.
Indonesia is also willing to support Cambodia's food security infrastructure by providing fertilizers and training in the agricultural land sector.
In addition to the bilateral meeting with the Cambodian PM, Jokowi also met with Timor Leste PM Xanana Gusmao, Cook Islands PM Mark Brown, and Vietnamese PM Pham Minh Chinh at the Merdeka Palace today.
Earlier, President Jokowi received visits from several international organizations, namely the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Economic Forum (WEF).
