TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named the Mayor of Bima, NTB, Muhammad Lutfi, as a suspect in the alleged procurement of goods and services corruption and gratification.
The information was obtained from KPK's witness summon toward the head of Bima Public Works and Housing Agency, Muhammad Amin, who was probed by KPK last Friday, August 25.
The summon letter on Tuesday, August 29, wrote, "[Muhammad Amin is] to be examined as a witness in the investigation of the alleged corruption by the suspect, Muhammad Lutfi, as the Mayor of Bima in the 2018-2023 period."
KPK's head of media information Ali Fikri confirmed that there was a raid today in the Mayor's office in Bima.
"We have received information that the KPK team is collecting evidence as part of the law enforcement process,” Ali confirmed in a brief text on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
However, Ali refrained from detailing further what cases were being investigated during the raid. He explained that the agency would first collect all evidence before disclosing the case to the public.
“We will certainly announce the progress later,” he said.
The anti-graft body started examining the alleged corruption case on July 25 and officially started an investigation on Lutfi on August 22, 2023.
