Indonesia Government Obliges Emissions Report for Industries in Jakarta, Banten, West Java

29 August 2023 00:31 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita obliges industries in Jakarta, West Java, and Banten to report their industrial exhaust gas emissions once a week.

The requirement is provided under the Circular Letter of the Ministry of Industry No. 2 of 2023 concerning the report of industrial sector exhaust gas emissions control. "The Circular Letter is intended as a cornerstone to the industry reports on the exhaust gas emissions control in Jakarta, West Java, and Banten," said the Director of Industrial Resilience and Business Climate at the Ministry of Industry Binoni Tio A. Napitupulu on Monday, August 28, 2023.

The scope of the provision consists of the industrial companies and industrial area companies which based on the energy production, production, and waste could potentially produce exhaust gas emissions and disrupt the ambient air.

The companies will be required to control their exhaust gas emissions, ensure that the exhaust gas emissions are within the provided parameters, and report their exhaust gas emission control.

"[The companies] are required to report once a week on Thursdays through the Siinas portal in accordance with the attached report procedures on the circular letter," Binoni said.

In addition, the report will be verified by an inspection team formed through the Ministry of Industry Decision No. 3599 of 2023.

"The circular letter has entered into force from August 25, 2023, to December 31, 2023," he said. The first report will commence this Thursday, August 31, 2023.
