TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on behalf of the United States of America, congratulated the Indonesian people on a joyous 78th Independence Day on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Blinken extended his best wishes to the people of Indonesia in celebrating the festive day.
In his congratulatory message, Blinken said the United States and Indonesia enjoy a strategic partnership enhanced by our shared commitment to democracy and the close ties between the peoples of the two countries.
Blinken commended Indonesia’s efforts in facilitating growth and building a resilient future through the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023. He also recalled his participation in the U.S.-ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference, East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and ASEAN Regional Forum, as well as the U.S.-Indonesia Strategic Dialogue, in Jakarta in July.
The United States, Blinken went on, looks forward to many collaborations in the coming years as the two countries work together toward a free and open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
Bilateral ties between Indonesia and the United States continue to grow. In 2022, the US Department of Commerce led a delegation of US business representatives, exploring opportunities for new cooperation and collaboration in the Indonesian market. This was part of the 'clean EDGE Asia' business development mission to accelerate the clean energy transition in Asia.
This was the first visit following the historic signing of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) by the US President Joe Biden, President Jokowi, and other leaders in the bloc.
IPEF consists of the United States, Indonesia, and 13 other partner countries that aim at supporting and accelerating the clean energy transition in Asia using American public and private sector expertise and resources.
This mission will bring together leading Indonesian renewable energy companies engaged in the development of solar, wind, biomass, and other forms of green energy and bring them together with Indonesian partners from the energy sector and decision-makers in government.
