TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan responded to President Joko Widodo or Jokowi's statement during his State of the Nation address at the Annual Plenary Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) regarding international trust in the country.
"President Jokowi speaks the truth that it is easy to lay the foundation of a building. What is difficult is to perfect it into a solid one," Luhut said via his Instagram account, on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Luhut mentioned the momentous experiences and achievements the government has realized in order to gain the trust of the international community, including hosting various important events at the international level.
In addition, Luhut said Indonesia had also been in the international spotlight in terms of dealing with world crises in the past three years. This proves to the world that Indonesia has the opportunity and is ready to become a developed country in the future.
Therefore, Luhut stressed that it requires stability, courage, and a strong commitment to continue the legacy of the current government. He encouraged all parties to focus and unite to keep moving forward to achieve Indonesia's goal of becoming a developed nation.
Luhut also believed that Indonesia could become one of the world's top five economies. "Don't be easily fooled by rhetoric that will eclipse our determination and enthusiasm to realize the vision of Golden Indonesia in 2045," he said.
