Police Probe Transjakarta Tendean Bus Stop Fire

15 August 2023 13:41 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Mampang Prapatan Sectoral Police are investigating the cause of the fire at the Transjakarta Tendean Bus Stop that broke out on Monday afternoon, August 14, 2023.

The Sectoral Police Chief Comr. Mashuri said he would coordinate with the South Jakarta Police and the National Police’s Central Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor).

“Inshallah, another check will be conducted tomorrow morning (Tuesday),” Mashuri said in a written statement, on Monday, August 14, as reported by Antara.

The investigation process into the cause of the fire would await the results of the examination by the Puslabfor which would launch an inspection today.

Jakarta-owned bus operator Transjakarta and the police are synergized to investigate the cause of the blaze that destroyed the bus stop in Mampang, South Jakarta. “Since this is a public facility, the police will definitely assist [the case],” said TransJakarta's director for operations Daud Joseph.

To date, Transjakarta said it did not know exactly what caused the fire. “The fire came from outside the bus stop,” he added.

The TransJakarta Tendean bus stop at Jalan Captain Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, caught fire on Monday afternoon, August 14, 2023, at around 17:40 Jakarta time. The incident occurred during rush hour when a lot of people were at the bus stop. "We managed to evacuate the people at the bus stop," Daud said.
