TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta-owned bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) reported a rising number of daily passengers for the Kalideres Terminal-Soekarno Hatta Airport route. The company’s operations and safety director Daud Joseph said the surge in passengers number was logged until the fourth week of the trial run.
“The number of passengers had reached 14,222 as of Saturday, July 29, since it was first operated on a trial run last Wednesday, July 5,” Daud said in Jakarta on Sunday, July 30, 2023, as quoted from Antara.
The highest number of daily passengers for the Line SH1 bus amounted to 733, he added.
He also hoped that the bus service would not only ease airport workers to commute to and from their workplaces but also for people to carry out their activities along the route.
The provincial government decided to extend the trial period, which was supposed to end last Wednesday, July 26, based on the evaluation results.
In addition, Transjakarta decided to extend the operating hours of the airport bus, which initially operated from 06:00-09:00 and 16:00-21:00 to 05:30-09:00 and 16:30-22:00. This was adjusted to the working hours of the workers. “We will continue to evaluate this,” Daud said.
For the Soekarno-Hatta Airport route, Transjakarta deploys five units of low-entry buses to ease disabled customers and passengers carrying goods when getting on and off the bus.
