Two Indonesian Students in Moscow Crowned Winner of Permira Pageant 2023

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow in cooperation with the Indonesian Students Association in Russia (Permira) held the final round of the 2023 Permira Pageant with the theme of "Embracing the ASEAN Spirit through Indonesian Heritage among Youth in Russia" on Sunday, July 30, 2023, according to a press release received by Tempo.
The pageant was held with the intention to encourage Indonesian students' nationalism, as well as promoting Indonesian culture and tourism. Further, the Indonesian Embassy in its statement said that the competition is an effective people-to-people contact between Indonesian students and Russian students and the international youth community in Russia.
The Indonesian Embassy crowned Khairi Wiryawan, a student from Medan studying Software Engineering at Tomsk State University, and Diah Pitaloka Margareta, a student from Semarang majoring in Advertising and Public Relations at the National Research Tomsk State University as the winners (Putra-Putri) of Permira Pageant 2023.
"I am proud and happy to be chosen as the winner of Permira Pageant 2023. This is a valuable experience that will spur me to further promote Indonesian tourism and culture in Russia," said Khairi Wiryawan.
The same sentiment was shared with his counterpart, Diah Pitaloka Margareta. "I hope I won't disappoint fellow Permira members and the Indonesian Embassy officials in performing my duties as the winner of Permira Pageant 2023," she said.
The Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the Russian Federation(accredited to the Republic of Belarus) Jose Antonio Morato Tavares welcomed the Permira Pageant 2023, believing the competition to be necessary as a platform for the students to organize and build their confidence. "Every participant is a winner in my eyes. The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow will support Permira's activities as a platform for students to self-actualize and as part of the effort to socialize Indonesia's positive image for Russians," he said.

Furthermore, Jose Tavares also asked the students to prioritize their studies in between their bustling activities to socialize with their communities.
The winners and finalists of Permira Pageant 2023 also received a trophy, a certificate, and a number of educational funds delivered by Ambassador Jose Tavares.
