TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polres Metro) is carrying out an intense effort to combat illegal parking in the Senopati Area, South Jakarta. Besides towing trucks, the police also prepared ETLE Mobile against illegally parked vehicles.
"Senopati is one of our routine patrol targets, we will deploy towing trucks and ETLE for the patrol," said the Head of the Traffic Unit of South Jakarta's Polres Metro Police Commissioner Bayu Marfiando, as quoted from the website of the National Police NTMC today, Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
On Saturday, July 15, 2023, the Traffic Unit in partnership with the South Jakarta Transportation Department controlled illegally parked vehicles along Senopati Road to Gunawarman. From the patrol, various vehicles were apprehended and towed.
"This action is taken since the public complained that this road is often used to park vehicles illegally, and it disturbs the local residents and other drivers," said Bayu.
From the patrol, 39 vehicles were confiscated. Around 30 vehicles the driver did not obtain a driver's permit, 9 vehicles did not obtain vehicle registration, and 6 were directly towed by the officers.
Before the patrol, Bayu said the police have tried to socialize the issue with the public and road users to no avail. With this patrol, the police hoped to raise awareness for the public to refrain from illegally parking their vehicles and to reduce traffic congestion.
