TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) stated that the hotel occupancy in tourist magnet Bali had reached 80 percent amidst the long holiday of Eid al-Adha from June 28 to July 2.
Bali PHRI Deputy Chair I Gusti Ngurah Rai Suryawijaya said domestic tourist arrivals to Bali reached 17,000 on a daily average. It was a significant increase compared to regular days which averaged 12,000 per day, attributed to the long Eid al-Adha holiday and collective national leave.
"The occupancy rate continues to increase in the region, the average occupancy rate is 80 percent," said Rai Suryawijaya when contacted by Tempo, on June 30. "This means that several hotels are full."
This hotel occupancy growth is also due to the arrival of foreign tourists which, according to records, have exceeded 16,000 per day with 37 flights available.
Tourist attractions that are crowded during the Eid al-Adha holidays are Asah Hill and Virgin Beach in Karangasem Regency, Bali, according to a field observation by state-owned news agency Antara.
