TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry does not deny Singapore’s active movement in hosting a lot of international events. Among them are the six concert dates of Coldplay. Indonesia and Malaysia only get one show each during its Music of the Spheres tour.
“We see that the Singapore government is enthusiastic about Indonesian people’s overwhelming interest in watching the Coldplay concert,” said the Ministry’s Deputy for Creative Products and Event Organizers, Vinsensius Jemadu, in a virtual press conference on Monday, June 26, 2023.
To prevent from getting left behind, Vinsenius said the ministry is working on digitizing the event licensing system. He emphasized that the digitization of the permit scheme is needed and is highly demanded by global musicians and promoters.
“We hope it can be implemented in five or six major cities in July as a pilot project,” he added.
Meanwhile, the ministry is trying to seek economic opportunities from the international event organized by the neighboring country.
The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry’s Deputy for Strategic Policy, Nia Niscaya, expressed optimism that the Coldplay’s Singapore shows could help boost the Indonesian tourism economy, especially in Batam and Bintan of Riau Islands.
