TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the government mulls providing flight check-in services in train stations to ease passengers of airport trains who bring lots of luggage.
“One of the services we think of is that passengers no longer need to check-in at the airport but train stations, be it in Manggarai or Bekasi for example,” Budi said at BNI City Station, South Jakarta on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
The same service, he added, will also be available from the airport back to Jakarta. So, passengers do not need to transport their own goods but just go to one counter because their goods are collected in one place.
The government is making the system for these conveniences. Budi also said he had held discussions to create public transportation in Jakarta more efficient and accessible in all areas, especially rail transportation.
According to him, the train is a reliable mass transportation as it runs on time, is practical, and can reach all places. “We are indeed trying to map transportation modes,” he added.
Budi also discussed the mapping of this mass transportation with the Jakarta Regional Government. Together with Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono, he traveled from Manggarai Station to Soekarno Hatta Airport while discussing efforts to increase the capacity of transportation modes in the capital and make a wider reach. The two also discussed more affordable fares for trains and other public transportation.
“So we along with the Governor talk about how existing modes, buses, trains, and other transportation, be properly integrated,” Budi Karya said.
