TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run commuter line operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) asserted that the fare of the Jabodetabek Commuter Line (KRL) will not increase after Eid al-Fitr 2023. This was conveyed by VP Corporate Secretary Erni Sylviane Purba.
“In response to information circulating about the increase in the Jabodetabek KRL fare on social media and in accordance with Ministerial Regulation Number 25 of 2023 which we received in April before Eid 2023, the fare for the Jabodetabek KRL remains fixed, there is no increase,” Sylviane or familiarly called Ane clarified when met at the KCI Office, Juanda Station, Wednesday, May 3.
She explained that the train fare is still the same that each passenger is charged an initial fare of Rp3,000 for the first 25 kilometers and Rp1,000 for the next 10 kilometers.
False information previously made rounds on social media that the train tariff would increase in line with the rising fare of the Transjakarta bus to Rp4,000-Rp5,000 during rush hours of 7-10 a.m. and 4-9 p.m.
Furthermore, Ane announced that there will be a fare adjustment for the Merak Local Train with the Rangkasbitung-Merak route from Rp3,000 to Rp5,000 as of June 1, 2023. This is in line with the government's railway infrastructure program in a bid to improve services to users and boost passengers number.
