TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A joint team of rescuers has managed to evacuate the Jambi police chief Insp. Gen. Rusdi Hartono from the crash site of the helicopter that carried seven police personnel at the Kerinci Regency. The police chief and his entourage were evacuated away from the site via air transport.
“Thank goodness everyone was safely evacuated today,” said the National Police spokesperson Gen. Dedi Prasetyo on February 21.
The accident took place on Sunday, February 18, as the group was on its way to Kerinci Regency from Jambi when the helicopter experienced technical issues and was forced to make an emergency landing at the Tamia Hills. All of the passengers were reportedly injured but fortunately survived the crash.
Due to the challenging terrain and the lack of a safe landing site surrounding the crash site, the survivors had to be rescued via static rope evacuation.
According to Ramadhan, everyone who was evacuated from the crash site was immediately taken to the local Jambi Bhayangkara Polie Hospital which is located 1 hour from the rescue post.
