TEMPO.CO, Solo - Taru Jurug Animal Park (TSTJ), which will soon be renamed to 'Solo Safari' is ready to surprise visitors during the soft opening scheduled for Friday, January 27, 2023. After its first phase of revitalization, a number of animals from the wildlife park Taman Safari Indonesia collection has started to be delivered to the zoo.
Taman Safari Group spokesperson Panca R. Sarongu said that some of the animals that will occupy the Solo Safari are rare and protected species.
"They include tigers. [Other animals] will later be announced as a surprise," Panca told reporters at Solo Safari on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Panca said that there will be 20 protected animal species. To ensure their health, the zoo management would bring a special team of doctors from the Taman Safari Group.
Panca acknowledged that the animals moved from Bogor to Solo would need time to adapt considering Bogor has lower air temperatures compared to Solo in Central Java.
"Bogor has cold weather, and Prigen as well, while the weather in Solo is hot. So the animals have to adapt to the weather in Solo," Panca said.
Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka was optimistic that the opening event could be carried out as scheduled. "We are ready. [The opening] is still on January 27," Gibran said.
Gibran ensured that the second phase of the Solo Safari revitalization would later run without disturbing visitors. He mentioned that several animals that visitors can meet in the upcoming event include Komodo dragons, gibbons, and wallabies.
