Tourism Ministry Announces Domestic Airfares Start Declining

TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy announced via its Instagram page @pesona.indonesia that prices of flight tickets or airfares for domestic routes have started to drop.

“In line with the declining avtur (jet fuel) prices, most airlines in Indonesia offer far more affordable ticket prices compared to those in the previous few months,” as written in the announcement on Thursday, January 12, 2023.

The ministry outlined that Jakarta - Bali flight tickets are priced starting at Rp700,000. Previously, the tickets were around Rp1.3 million to Rp3.3 million.

Additionally, tickets for the Jakarta - Surabaya flight are Rp600,000 from previously around Rp1 million in the past few months. Tickets for Jakarta - Yogyakarta, which used to be between Rp800,000 - Rp1 million, now start from Rp400,000.

Domestic Airfares on Online Ticket Booking Sites

Tempo checked the prices of airline tickets for domestic routes which were claimed to have dropped on online ticket booking applications, namely Tiket.com and Traveloka.

Based on the search for the economic class set on Friday, January 14, 2023, here are the results:

Flight tickets for Jakarta - Bali route

  • Tiket.com Rp673.000 - Rp1.9 million
  • Traveloka Rp676.000 - Rp1.9 million

Flight ticket for Jakarta - Surabaya route

  • Tiket.com Rp657.000 - Rp2.7 million
  • Traveloka Rp657.000 - Rp2.7 million

Flight ticket for Jakarta - Yogyakarta route

  • Tiket.com Rp499.000 - Rp2.5 million
  • Traveloka Rp499.000 - Rp2.5 million

These prices of domestic airfares are the lower and upper limits found and offered by various airlines serving the routes.
