KCIC Clarifies High-Speed Rail Construction Incident in Bandung

19 December 2022 13:26 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia Cina (KCIC) GM corporate secretary Rahadian Ratry clarified the incident that reportedly involved the derailment of a construction train operated by Kereta Cepat Jakarta-Bandung (KCJB). The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, December 18, in the West Bandung Regency area.

“The train that derailed was not the high-speed train but was a construction train for the ballast installment,” Ratry wrote in a statement on December 19.

Official reports say two people were injured in the incident and are treated at the Santosa Bandung Hospital while two people who suffered from minor injuries were already released from the hospital.

The evacuation of the derailed train was immediately conducted on Sunday evening and lasted until Monday morning. “PT KCIC fully supports the investigation process on the incident,” Ratry said.

The construction of the high-speed rail currently will continue prior to the evacuation and will continue to install the train subsystems under the control of KCJB.

"KCIC will conduct a thorough evaluation of the rail installation SOP, and other work SOPs, and ensure that all work carried out by the KCJB contractor implements Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) aspects in every work activity," said Ratry.
