ASITA Forecasts Tourist Traffic Ahead of Christmas, New Year Holidays

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The deputy chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Tours and Travel Agencies (Asita) on Wednesday expected that Bali will be the most popular site among tourists during the Christmas and New Year’s Eve holidays.
“For the meantime, it will still be held by Bali and followed by Lombok and Labuan Bajo,” said Budijant to Tempo on December 14.
He explained that Lombok will remain the top choice for tourists as the region is currently heavily promoting its Mandalika holiday package. “But on average, most will still refer to Bali and also Yogyakarta.”
In terms of tourism traffic, he believes the number will rise during the year-end holidays and is positive that it will exceed the pre-pandemic numbers recorded in 2019.
As to domestic and international tourists, he is optimistic that domestic tourists will see a sharp increase in traffic due to the nature of the holidays which is more universal than specific to certain groups.
