TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan stated that the amount of government subsidy for electric motorcycle users would not be too far off from what the Thailand and Vietnam governments have implemented.
"How much will the subsidies be? We must not be too different from other countries as it would only harm Indonesia," said Luhut on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
Luhut assured that the exact amount of subsidy is being formulated and calculated by the government. He added that the subsidy is important to develop a domestic electric vehicle ecosystem.
As previously reported, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said that the government is currently studying various aspects of government assistance for electric conversion kits for cars, motorcycles, and public transportation.
Moeldoko asserted that the government will constantly discuss the policy as they believe that incentivizing people who own electric vehicles will help accelerate the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem.
