11 November 2022 09:31 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Thursday said that domestic tourist traffic up to September this year exceeded the number logged prior to the pandemic. Indonesia recorded 600 million domestic tourists from January - September 2022, from previously 275 million people in 2019.

“This exceeds our goal of 550 million domestic tourist traffic,” said Uno to Tempo on November 10.

Meanwhile, international tourism based on statistics Indonesia (BPS) record showed consistent growth compared to the same period last year, which grew by 10 percent.

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Setianto, said the number of international tourist visits to Indonesia through the main entrance in September 2022, reached 538,320 visits. The figure was an increase of 10,768.46 percent compared to the condition of September 2021 which was only 5,000 visits.

"This has continued to increase since January 2022," Setianto said during a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 1.

Compared to the previous month, the number of tourist visits was also still up by 5.5 percent as it was recorded at 510,200 visits in August 2022. The number of tourist visits rose consistently from January 2022 which was only 15,100 visits.
