TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Anies Baswedan, a presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections endorsed by NasDem Party, highlighted the commodity price gap in several provinces of Indonesia during his speech today at the party’s anniversary event.
“This is an unfinished task, people between islands must not meet the price difference. They are fellow countrymen who must experience an equal economy,” said Anies at the Jakarta Convention Center on Thursday, November 10, 2022.
During 45 years of Indonesia being a country, a number of provinces still deal with economic inequality, such as Papua.
In order to realize the 5th principle of Pancasila, which is Social Justice for All Indonesian People, Anies conveyed his mission to make changes in various economic sectors throughout the country and reduce existing inequality.
“Therefore, we have to look at the price of food, the price of tools, and the price of building materials then compare them throughout Indonesia. We see there is inequality,” he remarked.
The former governor of Jakarta claimed the Democrat Party and PKS will also get ready and share the same mission in overcoming the price gap.
“It's now only Nasdem Party, inshallah, two more parties will be with us in the future. PKS is ready, Democrat is ready, and later we will be together on one mission, and therefore we must work together,” he said.
Anies Baswedan also called on all elected members to work together to carry out the big task so that the voices reflect all Indonesian people.
