TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former British prime minister Tony Blair at the Ballroom Djakarta Theater XXI on Tuesday lauded the New Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) as a manifestation of Indonesia’s vigor which can open the door for bigger economic opportunities and attract investors from around the globe. This event was touted as the pre-market sounding for the Nusantara project.
“And I made my commitment to take that message out to the world, and tell people, this is something worth coming, worth seeing, worth investing, and worth being in,” Tony Blair said on Tuesday evening, October 18.
Tony Blair previously attended a market poll to promote various potential investments for the new capital of Nusantara. The Steering Committee for the Development of the New Capital City stated that Nusantara would be a positive value for Indonesia from a global perspective.
Therefore, believes that spirit needs to be maintained so that the great progress that Indonesia has achieved in recent years can continue in the future. That way, said Blair, Indonesia can take its place as the leader of the nations in the world.
“This is the place where people today want to see things done and this capital city can be the personification, the embodiment of that spirit,” Blair insisted.
The New Capital City Head Authority, Bambang Susantono, said that the government does not want to just move the capital city physically, but also bring out the spirit of the city.
“City with soul, a city has to be believable and lovable,” he said in the ambitious project’s pre-market sounding at the Djakarta Theater on October 18.
