TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Online transport, shopping and finance company PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia has joined the Fortune "Change the World" listing, and is now ranked at number 13 in the list of 54 enterprises changing the world. The company comprises Gojek, which started as an online motorbike taxi service and has now expanded to include shopping and food delivery, Tokopedia, a major force in online shopping across Indonesia, and GoTo Financial, which through Gopay gives customers the opportunity to pay electronically for not only GoTo's services, but also for goods and services in thousands of locations by scanning a QR code.

Now the largest digital ecosystem company in Indonesia, GoTo has attained the highest ranking for Southeast Asia, putting it above the SEA Group, parent company of Shopee, which is ranked 25, and PT Bukalapak.com at number 50.

The inclusion of GoTo on the 2022 "Change the World" list from Fortune is the result of an initiative the company undertook when it launched its initial public offering in April this year. GoTo allocated free shares to its partner drivers, partner merchants and consumers, and allocated stock options to its employees through the Gotong Royong (Mutual Assistance) share program.

In the words of the official statement from Fortune magazine in relation to the listing awarded to GoTo, "In April, when Indonesian super app GoTo raised US$1.1 billion in a hotly anticipated IPO, the company made sure some proceeds went to the people that power its services. GoTo allocated US$20 million worth of shares to 600,000 drivers who deliver food, groceries, and other products via GoTo in Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam."

The team from Fortune that decided on the listing explained that the stock sharing program was an initiative that went beyond expanding the ownership of the company, as it also had an impact on financial literacy and inclusion in Indonesia.

"This program aimed to foster loyalty and sense of ownership among GoTo's driver base. But it also boosted financial literacy and inclusion in Indonesia, a country that is one-third unbanked – enabling many drivers to engage with the financial system for the first time."

GoTo has been awarded the highest ranking among Southeast Asian companies in this list. On a global level, GoTo is at #13. At the very top of the list is PayPal, followed by Alibaba, JD.Com and Meituan in joint second place. Walmart is third in the rankings.

Other Southeast Asian companies were awarded lower ranking than GoTo in the 2022 Fortune "Change the World" list. SEA Group, parent company of Shopee is ranked 25, and Bukalapak is at number 50.

For GoTo, this is the third time it has been included in the Fortune "Change the World" listing, which is special recognition for companies able to bring about global change by making a positive social impact. in 2019, through gopay, Gojek it was ranked at number 11 of 52 international organizations on the Fortune "Change the World" listing. This was a rise of 16 places since Gojek received the same recognition in 2017.
