Police Arrest Man Who Files Lawsuit over Jokowi's Fake Diploma

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police arrested Bambang Tri Mulyono who file a lawsuit over the alleged fake diploma of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo at a hotel in Tebet, South Jakarta, on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo, the head of the police’s public relations unit, confirmed that the arrest took place at 15:44 Jakarta time by the police’s directorate of cybercrime due to alleged hate speech and religious blasphemy.
“Yes, [the perpetrator has been detained],” said Dedi on Thursday, October 13, 2022. However, he stopped short of elaborating on the allegations.
The case was scheduled to be disclosed at 19:00Jakarta time. “Tonight at 19:00, the unit head and the cyber director will publish [the case],” said Dedi.
Bambang Tri Mulyono reportedly filed a lawsuit to the Central Jakarta District Court on Monday, October 3, 2022. The defendants are President Joko Widodo, the General Election Commission (KPU), the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemenristekdikti).
The Rector of Yogyakarta Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Ova Emilia, meanwhile, had clarified the polemic of President Jokowi's diploma circulating on social media. Ova asserted that Joko Widodo was an alumnus of the UGM Faculty of Forestry in 1985.
“ Bapak Ir. Joko Widodo is an alumnus of the S1 Study Program at the Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University, class of 1980,” said Ova at the UGM campus, Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
