TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The South Jakarta Police deployed 250 personnel to secure the meeting between app-based ride-hailing company Gojek and the Driver Online Indonesia (DRONE) community. The meeting will take place in Blok S, to discuss the impact of rising fuel prices.
"We have prepared 250 personnel from the Regional Police Force, Departmental Police Force, and the Mobile Brigade," South Jakarta Police's head of operations Adj. Sr. Comr. Pol. Ruslan Idris said in Jakarta, Friday, September 16, as reported by Antara.
Ruslan said the officers will monitor the mediation between the online taxi drivers and Gojek, while preventing traffic congestion around the location.
He hoped that the meeting could reach an agreement on tariffs due to the increase in fuel prices. "We are only preparing and assisting their mediation," he said
Members of the Driver Online Indonesia (DRONE) community will meet Gojek representatives on Friday afternoon at 13:00.
On Monday, GoCar drivers from Jakarta, Bogor, Depok Tangerang, and Bekasi staged a protest in front of Pasaraya Blok M, demanding Gojek increase the fare charged to passengers with regard to the recent hike in subsidized fuel price.
