TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor City Government, West Java, increased the fare for the city's public minivan or angkot by Rp1,000 for students and Rp1,500 for public passengers as a result of the increase in fuel prices.
Head of the Bogor Transportation Agency Eko Prabowo said that the new tariff was agreed at Rp4,000 for students and Rp5,000 for general passengers. “This is in response to the rising fuel prices. The angkot fare also goes up to adjust it,” he said.
Eko also said that the fare hike is referred to the Bogor Mayor's Decree No. 551.2/KEP.280-DISHUB/2022 concerning the tariff for public transportation services in Bogor City.
It is also through a technical study of vehicle operating costs (BOK) and others so public transportation can continue to operate amid rising fuel prices. The Transportation Agency will also issue an appeal letter to drivers and angkot entrepreneurs to comply with the tariff provisions.
Eko emphasized that if anyone finds an angkot driver asking for more than the determined fare, they can report it to the Bogor Transportation Agency. “Don't forget to take a photo of the license plate of the vehicle,” he added.
On Saturday, September 3, 2022, President Jokowi announced the hike in fuel prices which he deemed as the last resort. To minimize the impact, the government prepared cash assistance totaling Rp24.17 trillion.
