TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Communication and Informatics Ministry (Kominfo) has postponed the shutting off of analog broadcast services, which is also known as analog switch-off (ASO), in Jakarta after it was initially scheduled for Thursday, August 25, 2022.
The ministry said that the government is considering future steps after an evaluation of the ASO rollout was held across other regions prior to Jakarta. Komifo will adjust the ASO implementation system to minimize potential obstacles to public broadcast access
"The implementation, which was originally held in three stages [from April 30, August 25, and November 2], has been changed to ASO implementation based on regional readiness, with the target that all analog television broadcasts in Indonesia must be migrated before November 2," the Ministry announced on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
The national analog television broadcasting switch-off will be implemented on November 2, 2022, at the latest. The policy is regulated under Article 60A of Law No.32/2002 which oversees Broadcasting, and Law No. 11/2020 concerning Job Creation.
There are 31 regions that were included in the discontinuation list which includes the capital city of Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Singkawang, Solo, Semarang and Medan.
