TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The attorney for the victims of the KM50 FPI case, Azis Yanuar, assessed that there are similarities between the fatal shooting of six Islam Defenders Front (FPI) members and the murder case of Brigadier J.
Both cases, according to him, highlighted the fake shooting scenes. In Brigadier J’s case, the key suspect Ferdy Sambo designed it as a shootout between his aides.
“The similarity between the KM50 case and the FS case is that there is violence committed by authorities and the mode of fabricating a fake shootout scenario,” Azis told Tempo on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
In the shooting case of Brigadier J, however, the interests of the authorities were not hidden. Thus, efforts to reveal the murder case at Ferdy Sambo's official residence could go viral in the public.
“The authorities have an interest in building a positive image in law enforcement. So in the end, the FS case is used as a moment to develop a positive image as if the law is still going fine,” said Aziz.
He added that when it comes to the interests of the authorities, case manipulation is often conducted. The law, in this case, was made to legitimize extra judicial killing.
Aziz also said that his side was still trying to find justice in the KM50 case that killed members of the now-defunct FPI. “We have and will take legal and constitutional steps both domestically and internationally,” he said.
