TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Internal Affairs Division Chief, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, has been named as a suspect in the investigation of murder against his aide Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat, or Brigadier J. The announcement was officially made by Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on Tuesday, August 9.
The police chief, in his press statement, said the internal special team uncovered new facts regarding the incident that killed Brigadier J. He revealed that no shootout ever happened between the deceased police and Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu, who was initially identified as Bharada E.
What actually happened, said the police chief, was that Richard shot Nopryansah under the orders of Ferdy Sambo. This came to light during an initial investigation conducted earlier this morning.
“Just this morning we conducted an investigation and the special team decided to name FS as a suspect,” said Listyo Sigit in a press conference at the National Police Main Headquarters.
FS suspect naming added to the number of suspects. The other suspects include Bharada E or Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu and Brigadier Ricky Rizal. The former is charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) overseeing murder with intent and the latter is charged under Article 340 KUHP on premeditated murder.
Ferdy's role in the Brigadier J murder case was revealed in Richard's latest statement. He revoked his old statement, saying there was a shootout between him and Brigadier J at Ferdy's official residence on July 8.
In his latest statement, Richard said that he went down from the second floor of Ferdy's residence because he heard a commotion happening on the first floor. Arriving there, Richard claimed to have seen Ferdy holding a gun while Yosua was already lying on the ground covered in blood. He also admitted that he had shot Yosua or Brigadier J because of orders from his superior.
In addition, Tempo Magazine this week mentioned that Ferdy Sambo was also accused of being involved in the attempt to eliminate evidence of the incident. He was said to have ordered his men to take security cameras and footage after the incident. In addition, Ferdy was also said to have designed the scenario of Brigadier J's death as if he was involved in a shootout with Brigadier J after harassing his wife, Putri Candrawathi.
