Prize Money of PBSI President's Cup up to Rp1.55 Billion

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) stated that the 2022 President's Cup, which will be the first championship of this sport, will provide prize money of Rp1.55 billion.
According to the Deputy Chief of the President’s Cup organizing committee, Edi Sukarno, the prize money will be divided into two: Rp500 million for the provincial government (Pengprov) and the remaining Rp555 million for the winning athletes.
“In detail, Pengprov who becomes the overall champion will receive a coaching fund of Rp250 million, the second place will get Rp150 million, and third place will get Rp100 million,” said Edi at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta, on Monday, July 25.
The general championship title will be awarded to Pengprov with the highest number of medals achieved by its athletes. Meanwhile, athletes will receive separate prizes.
Edi explained that the number of athletes that could participate in the match depends on the total number of registered athletes in each province.
“If Pengprov has more than 6,000 officially registered athletes, then it is allowed to send five people in each number. If it is below 5,000, it can only send a maximum of two people, and if the athletes are under a thousand, they can only register one person per number,” Edi reiterated.
As of the last day of registration on July 19, there were 620 athletes from 30 provinces in Indonesia. Only four regions were absent in this badminton championship, viz. East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, North Maluku, and West Papua.
All participants will compete in 11 numbers which are divided into three main categories, namely the U-13 children's group, the U-15 beginner group, and the U-17 youth group.
“Pengprov with the highest number of athletes are Jakarta, West Java, and East Java. The figure includes not only children or young athletes but also senior athletes. But this [President's Cup] is only for children to teenagers,” said Edi.
