DJKI Confirms Citayam Fashion Week Trademark Registration Process

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Intellectual Property Directorate General (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights confirmed that Citayam Fashion Week is in the process of trademark registration. The registration was submitted by two parties, namely PT. Tiger Wong Entertainment and Indigo Aditya Nugroho.
“It is true that DJKI has received two requests for trademark registration of Citayam Fashion Week. Both registered in class 41 and their current status is for publication,” said the DG official Agung Indriyanto in a written statement, Monday, July 25, 2022.
He explained that PT. Tiger Wong belonging to celebrity Baim Wong registers for entertainment services, comprising of fashion shows, podcasts on fashion affairs, and the publication of fashion magazines. Meanwhile, Indigo Aditya Nugroho registers for a contest selection service (entertainment), comprising expos on arts, culture, and education, fashion shows, party planning for promotional events related to fashion shows, as well as live stage performances.
Agung also confirmed that DJKI received the two applications on July 21, 2022. When both are published, any party can file an objection to the application for trademark registration. After that, the two companies will go through several stages until they are officially registered.
Based on Law No. 20 of 2016 on brands and geographical indications, trademark registration needs to go through several stages starting from a trademark application, formality checks, announcements (2 months), substantive examination (150 working days), the decision of the registration, and then certificate issuance.
“Those who have the right to give the trademark are the brand examiners after the inspection process,” Agung remarked.
