TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The hiking quota for Mount Rinjani in Lombok of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will will be restored to 100% starting Wednesday, July 27, 2022. The six hiking trails from East Lombok Regency, Central Lombok, and North Lombok will also be opened at 100 percent quota.
"The Mount Rinjani National Park Agency will open for tourism visits of climbing and non-climbing starting July 27, 2022," said the Head of the Mount Rinjani National Park Agency (TNGR) Dedy Asriady on Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Previously, the hiking trails have been opened gradually during the COVID-19 pandemic from 50 percent quota to 75 percent quota. Sembalun and Senaru were allowed to welcome 150 climbers, while Torean, Aik Berik, Timbanuh, and Tete Batu were open for 100 climbers. Usually, climbing these mountains takes four days and three nights.
The 3,726 meters above sea-level mountain has become hikers' favorite destination. Other than climbing activities, the park offers Segara Anak Lake on Mount Baru Jari and Aik Kalak hot springs.
People are required to make online bookings before climbing Mount Rinjani the eRinjani mobile app. The app will be available via Google Playstore starting July 27, 2022, at 05:00 - 20:00 Central Indonesian Time (WITA).
Saringgih, the head of Kumbi Sub-District, Pakuan Village, West Lombok Regency, said that there was a plan for the opening of a new hiking trail of Mount Rinjani in his area. "We are still discussing the preparation of village resources," he said.
