West Papua BNN Names Police Officers Suspect for Illegal Drug Abuse

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Papua National Narcotics Agency (BNN) named a middle-ranking officer at the Sorong City Police, Commissioner CB, a suspect in narcotics abuse today, July 20, 2022.
The agency head Brig. Gen. Heri Istu Hariono in Manokwari said his side also arrested H who acted as a dealer and owner of 13 packages of methamphetamine.
“We’ve conducted the investigation and determined [CB] as a suspect. He is only a user and owns less than one gram of crystal meth,” said Hariono on Wednesday.
Based on the questioning, CB had consumed methamphetamine for a long time, and it was found that he was in a hotel room with H in South Sorong. “We continue the legal process or mandate a rehabilitation in the prison if possible,” he added.
West Papua BNN continued to develop the case to ascertain the origin of the shipment of methamphetamine which initial reports said was from South Sulawesi.
Meanwhile, after meeting with the BNN head, the Director of Drugs at the West Papua Police, Comr. Agustinus Indra Napitupulu said that the West Papua Police handed over the entire legal process to the West Papua BNN.
He also confirmed that following the case, all resort police officers in the province were ordered to carry out urine tests.
