TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that Jakarta is entering the global city era. One of the reasons is because it has succeeded in holding an international event.
"In this place, two weeks ago, we have just finished a world championship, Jakarta Formula E, and it ran successfully," he said in his speech at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta, Saturday, June 25.
Tonight, Jakarta provincial government was holding the peak event of the 495th Jakarta Anniversary celebration, or Jakarta Hajatan, at JIS, under the theme of Collaboration, Acceleration, Elevation.
Anies Baswedan said that only 10 countries host the Formula E race and Indonesia was one of them. Therefore, the world viewed that Jakarta could organize an international event, he claimed.
Besides, the city has entered the global city era through the development of sidewalks, art and culture centers, as well as international-standard transportation. Jakarta has also used digital technology, such as through the development of Jakarta Kini or JAKI, Anies went on.
"The super app that is not only the best in Indonesia but the best city service super app in Southeast Asia," he said. "These are one of the whys we're entering the global city era," added the former Education and Culture Minister.
