TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will reportedly announce a cabinet reshuffle today, June 15, 2022. “This afternoon,” sources from the government told Tempo early today.
According to the source, two ministerial positions will be replaced. They are Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning or Head of the National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil to be replaced with former Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Hadi Tjahjanto and Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi to be replaced with Zulkifli Hasan.
Zulkifli is the general chair of the National Mandate Party (PAN). In August 2021, PAN joined the coalition of political parties supporting the Joko Widodo government.
Both Zulkifi and Hadi were summoned to the Jakarta Presidential Palace on Tuesday, June 14. Hadi did not say much when asked if the call was related to a cabinet reshuffle. “I don't know, I was only called in. I don't know what’s [the issue],” he told reporters on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli's presence was not detected by the media. However, PAN Deputy General Chair Yandri Susanto and PAN DPP chairman Bima Arya confirmed the summon.
PAN Secretary-General Eddy Soeparno also predicted that the general chairman might be asked to help Jokowi in the cabinet as Minister of Trade.
Apart from the two ministers, Tempo’s source in the government said there will be three new deputy ministers who will be introduced in today's cabinet reshuffle.
