TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and his wife Atalia Praratya reportedly have accepted the tragedy of their beloved son, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz, in Switzerland. The family informed this following Ridwan's plan to return to Indonesia on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
“Kang Emil (Ridwan) and Teh Lia (Atalia) said they have accepted the likelihood that Emmeril, or Eril as known, has passed away, returned to rahmatullah (God’s mercy) because of drowning,” said Ridwan's eldest brother, Erwin Muniruzaman, at a conference press on Friday, June 3, 2022.
Eril went missing after a swim in River Aare, nearby the city of Bern, Switzerland, on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Ridwan who was in the UK for an official visit immediately flew to Switzerland when receiving the report.
To date, Eril has not been found yet. Ridwan also had to return home as his leave period ended on June 4 and will be back serving as a Governor on June 6.
Erwin said Ridwan and the family had consulted the situation with the West Java Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) on Thursday, asking for advice in accordance with Islamic law. After the meeting, the family and MUI performed a gaib prayer, a prayer for the deceased from afar.
The West Java MUI also issued a circular, calling for the public to hold the prayer for Eril. Erwin further asked for an apology on behalf of Eril. “We have accepted and received many important lessons from this incident,” said Erwin.
