C. Java to Likely Be Future Location of Indonesian Tesla Factory

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Java government, specifically Batang Regency, has recently confirmed the location of Tesla’s upcoming electric vehicle factory which will be constructed at the Batang Integrated Industrial Area.
Batang Regent Wihaji confirmed on Friday to Antaranews that the location was decided upon after the United States company showed interest in investing.
“Yes, that is correct. According to information from the Investment Minister or Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Tesla will invest in the Batang integrated industrial area,” said Wihaji on May 20.
He added that the region he leads—specifically the industrial area—will likely see multiple factories ranging from electric cars and motorcycles to industrial pipes producers and shoe factories.
“Fourteen companies have committed to investing and establishing their factories in the industrial area,” he said.
