TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir sets a target that women will occupy 25 percent of the board of directors positions in state companies at least by the end of 2023. This is a form of practicing gender equality in workplaces.
“We are intervening in a policy that until 2023, there must be 25 percent of women in leadership positions in SOEs,” said Erick at the launching event of the Respectful Workplace Policy at the Telkom Hub Auditorium, Jakarta, Thursday, April 21.
He emphasized that the target is non-negotiable given that the percentage of women who occupy directors' seats in global companies has now reached 30 percent.
According to Erick, many women have pushed for transformations and so he really hoped that the policies carried out and taken by SOEs could create positive changes for state-owned companies to contribute to Indonesia.
“Strong women in SOEs are the nucleus of change. I hope this opportunity that has been given can become a reality,” he added.
Erick Thohir also asked state-owned companies to maintain a comfortable working environment through gender equality and impartiality. He believes that a good working climate will lead to a positive impact on the results and performance of the company.
