PLN Substation in West Jakarta Catches Fire Due to Short Circuit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A substation of state own electricity company, PLN, in Slipi Palmerah, West Jakarta, caught fire on Friday afternoon. The incident was allegedly caused by a short circuit.
West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department received a report from the residents coming to Petamburan Post at 18:35.
“We received a report of an electric substation fire from the people coming to Petamburan Post,” said the fire and rescue officer, Sjukri Bahanan, when contacted on Friday, April 15.
They immediately sent two fire fighting units to the electric substation located behind the Pelni Hospital and Brimob dorm at Jalan KS Tubun 3.
A total of six pump units were deployed; three from Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue and three from West Jakarta, with 30 personnel. They managed to extinguish the fire at 19:21.
“It was allegedly caused by a short circuit at the substation,” said Syukri.
The total area affected by the fire is 15 square meters and there were no casualties. The losses caused by the incident are still unknown.
