TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe National Police’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate arrested two men in an 84-kilogram methamphetamine trafficking case and one man in a 20-kilogram marijuana trafficking case in separate places in Aceh.

Directorate head Brig. Gen. Krisno H Siregar said his personnel nabbed the suspects identified as J (32) and DR (31) in the waters of East Aceh, 4.3 nautical miles above Kuala Olim. Both admitted that they were asked by a man named Daud to pick up the illegal drugs in Malaysian waters to be brought to Peurlak, East Aceh.

“He played a role as a courier controlled by Daud who is a fugitive,” said Krisno at the National Police HQ, Jakarta, Monday, March 21.

Krisno added that during the arrest the two suspects carried three bags containing 40 packs of crystal meth, two sacks containing 40 packs of crystal meth totaling 84,165 grams or 84 kg. The police also confiscated a Puntung GT.7 boat and a communication device as evidence.

Meanwhile, the other suspect, Hafiz or H, was arrested on a Pelangi bus on Jl. Raya Banda Aceh-Medan with evidence of 20 kilograms of marijuana. H was also a drug courier controlled by someone named Sukri who is still at large. He was ordered by an unknown person to take marijuana from Indrapuri, Aceh Besar, to Padang by bus.

“In Padang, the package was planned to be handed to Sukri's people on his instructions,” Krisno added.

The three suspects are charged with Article 114 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. They face a maximum sentence of death penalty.
